Bentota is one of the towns of Galle District in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka located between 6.42° N latitude and 80.00° E longitude. It is situated about 54 kms from Galle City and about 79 kms from national capital Colombo.

Bentota is one of the best places water sports lovers in the country and also houses numerous world-class hotels as well. Bentota is well known for toddy production and famous Sri Lankan Jeweler Aida.


History of Bentota:

Bentota derives its name from a devil called Bem. Galapatha Viharaya is one of the very ancient temples located in Bentota.

Dutch Reformed Church was constructed by Dutch Army officer in 1754 is placed near Galle Fort.

Dutch Museum has a large collection of prints, furniture and paintings of Dutch Kingdom is located in Galle.
