Barbuda is an island located in the Eastern Caribbean and together with Antigua Island forms the country of Antigua and Barbuda. Barbuda is geographically positioned between 17°37′ N latitude and 61°48′ W longitude at a highest elevation of 38 meters with an area of 160.56 sq. km. It is located to the north of Antigua, to the west and northwest of Nevis and St. Kitts and to the south of Montserrat and Guadeloupe.

 

History of Barbuda:

The history of Barbuda dates back to 2400 BC, when the first inhabitants Ciboney settled. Arawak and Carib Indians landed on Barbuda during the second voyage of Christopher Columbus in 1493. After the colonization of Spanish and French, British established a colony in Barbuda in the year 1666.

Barbuda Codrington Airport serves the island of Barbuda with scheduled flights to Sint Eustatius and Sint Maarten, operated by Winair and to Anguilla, Montserrat and Saint Barthelemy, catered by Anguilla Air Services, FlyMontserrat, St Barth Commuter (only charter flights). There is a private air landing strip at Coco Point Lodge which provides charter flights for their guests.
