Adjuntas is a small municipality located in Puerto Rico, an unincorporated territory of the United States. Due to its chilly weather, Adjuntas is popularly called as ‘the Switzerland of Puerto Rico’. It is medically noted town, some doctors advise patients to travel Adjuntas and to stay in hotel ‘La Adjuntena’ (which serves both tourists and patients, maintained by C.L. Ginestre), because of the pleasant weather of the town.

 

Geography of Adjuntas:

Adjuntas is on Cordillera Central bounded by Lares and Yauco in the west, Guayanilla and Penuelas towards south and Utuado to the north and east. Monte Guilarte is the highest peak on Adjuntas (3,773 feet). Adjuntas experience a tropical rainforest climate and coordinates at 18°09′46″ N 66°43′20″ W.

 

History of Adjuntas:

During the Spanish colonial period, Adjuntas was the part of the San Blas de Illescas de Coamo village and Adjuntas was founded by Diego Maldonado on August 11th, 1815.

 

Connectivity to Adjuntas:

PR-10 is a major road connecting Adjuntas with Ponce city in the south and Arecibo in the north. Adjuntas is situated about 120 km southwest of San Juan and it takes around 3 hours by car.

Adjuntas has a small airport used for private planes and the nearest major airport to Adjuntas is Mercedita Airport which is about 35 km away from Adjuntas with connections to New York and Orlando, served by JetBlue Airways.
