History of Uzbekistan

According to historians, a tribe by the name Oghuz from Mongolia with Turkic spoken language settled in Turkmenistan in the 8^th century. In the 10^th century, Turkmenistan was dominated by the Seljuk Empire and Islam religion was introduced in the entire region. In the 12^th century, the Seljuk Empire was defeated by tribal people from neighboring regions and the locals of Turkmenistan. In 13^th century, the region was invaded by the Mongols and hence the Turkmens migrated to the south of Turkmenistan. From 16^th to 18^th century, these Turkmens tribe terrorized neighboring regions. The late 19^th century witnessed the Russian army conquering most parts of Turkmenistan.
