Balikpapan is a city in Barneo Island in the East Kalimantan, Indonesia and the second largest city in East Kalimantan. Economy of Balikpapan depends on the timber, mining, petroleum products and agriculture and there are various companies located in the city.

History of Balikpapan:

Balikpapan was fishing village till 1897, in the year 1897, an oil company stated the refinery in this region and this region boom when Dutch invaded the city and stared developing the city. In the year 1942, Japanese declared war against Dutch and destroyed all the industries, after few years, various companies were established in this region and it emerged as the major petroleum hub for various oil companies in Indonesia.
