Kuantan is the capital city of the state of Pahang lying on the banks of river Kuantan facing the South China Sea. Kuantan is one of the fastest developing cities in Pahang state and is 9th largest city in Malaysia. Kuantan has turned out to be an important center for trade, commerce, infrastructure and tourism. Kuantan History:

Initially Kuantan was called as Kampung Teruntum as the region consisted of number of villages located on the banks of river Teruntum. Kuantan was ruled by Chih-Tu Empire during 11th century and later by Siamese rulers during 12th century. It was ruled by Malacca Empire in 15th century and the locals believe that the city was founded in the year 1850. The Chinese arrived in Kuantan in 19th century which led to formation and establishment of many townships and trading activities.
