Hoi An is a city in Quang Nam Province in Vietnam and also called as Faifo is situated in South Central Coast of Vietnam. Hoi An covers total area of 60 Sq Kms is an ancient town recognized by the UNESCO and declared as the World Heritage Site and economy of the city depends on fishing, agriculture and tourism.

Hoi An is surrounded by Da Nang, Ha Lam, Duy Son, Hoa Ninh, Dai Hong, Tam Ky, Tien Ky, Thanh My and Hoa Hiep Nam and it is located at the distance of 907 Kms from the capital of Vietnam, Hanoi and coordinates of Hoi An are 15.87944° N and 108.33500° E.

 

History of Hoi An:

Hoi An was inhabited by Cham and was founded by Champa Empire which ruled central and south Vietnam and during the rule of Champa Empire, Tra Kieu was the political capital and Hoi An was the commercial capital.

Portuguese explored the city and established the major trading port in Hoi An village in the year 1535 and Nguyen Lords also established the port in Hoi An in the year 1595 and later this port became the major trading port in South China Sea.

This is the ancient, historical and oldest house in Hoi An city with history dating back to 19th century was constructed by Tran Tu Nhac.
