History of Baia Mare:

Baia Mare was settled due the pleasant climate and due to the River Sasar and was inhabited by Thracian tribes during the Bronze Age and gold and silver mining was carried out during the King Burebista era. Baia Mare became prosperous town during the rule of Louis I of Hungary due to the mining industry and St. Stephen Cathedral was constructed in the town. Mining industry was taken over by Austrian authorities in the year 1748 and during 19^th century various artists settled in the region.

History of Bacau:

As per the records it is believed that Bacau was inhabited during 6^th and 7^th centuries and was first mentioned in the year 1408, when Prince Alexander the Good of Moldavia captured the town and established colonies.
