Wangduephodrang is a town sited on the Asian continent situated in the central region of the country, Bhutan. This town forms the center of administration for the district of Wangduephodrang. People & Culture Wangdiphodrang:

Wangdiphodrang Dzong

 

The Wangdiphodrang Dzong rests near to the meeting point of the two rivers Mo and Tang. This Dzong provides an amazing view of the entire region.

 

Chimme Lhakhang

 

Chimme Lhakhang temple was built in the 15th century, to honor the teachings of Lama Drukpa Kuenley. Located on a hill in the middle of the valley, this temple is also referred to as temple of fertility.

 

Phobjikha Valley

 

Phobjikha Valley is the only valley in the country of Bhutan where one can view the Black-necked Crane bird in its natural habitat.

 

 

Gangtey Monastery

 

Gangtey monastery is dedicated to the teachings of Buddhism. It was founded in the 17th century and provides an amazing view of the entire region.

 

Langdra Nye

 

This place is located in close to the village, Bai. It is one of the places where Guru Rinpoche meditated and is considered as one of the sacred place in the country of Bhutan. The place is also known as the Red Bull Sacred Site.

Airway:

Situated at a distance of 144 km from Wangduephodrang is the only international airport of Bhutan, Paro International Airport. From the airport a traveler to Wangduephodrang must board a bus to Thimpu city from where inter-district buses are available in plenty.

 

Roadway:

Roads from Wangduephodrang are linked to Thimpu-Tsirang highway. Tourist must board a bus leading to Tsirang highway. There are three tiled roads in Wangduephodrang.

Lateral road which appears at the west at Dochu La Pass and intersects Pana Tsang Chhu at Wangdue Phodrang Dzong.

A tar road leads towards the north from Wangduephodrang to the fort at Punakaha.

Another tar road moves away from Lateral Road at Pele La Pass and at the intermediate between Wangduea and Tongsa heading south towards Gangteng Gonpa.

Known as gateway to the east Trongsa is a town in Trongsa district situated in central Bhutan. This town forms the center of administration for the district of Trongsa. Trongsa is about 187 km from the capital city of Bhutan, Thimphu. Trongsa is positioned 2300 meters above sea level. The first monastery in Bhutan was established in the year 1543 in Trongsa. Coordinates to Trongsa are 27029’58” N and 90030’17” E.

 

People & Culture of Trongsa:

Towards north and east of Trongsa locals speak in Bumthangkha and towards the southeast the inhabitants talk only in Khengkha. In the west part of Trongsa Nyenkha is the most spoken language. Lakha speakers live at the far northern end of Trongsa. Dzongkha is spoken in the far south of Trongsa district.

Ta Dzong

This structure is made of stone in the shape of a cylinder was created in the year 1652 under the reign of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. The responsibility for creating Ta Dzong was handed over to Chogyal Minjur Tempa. After serving as a fort for 350 years the structure is now a classy museum.

 

Kuenga Rabten

Kuenga Rabten is located at a distance of 23 km. Cultivation of rice crops takes place throughout the village nearby. One can have a beautiful view of the winter palace which was developed during the reign of the second king and currently, it is taken care by the National Commission for Cultural Affairs.

Roadway

Trongsa has well maintained roads connecting to nearby places within Bhutan. If you plan travel by bus from Thimpu the journey will take six hours. From Jakar the journey to Trongsa will take two hours by bus.

Trashigang is dominated by Sharchops and Ngalops. The word Sharchops according to the national language of Bhutan means ‘easterner’. Dzongkha is the national language of Bhutan and is widely spoken among the inhabitants. Sakteng Wildlife Sanctuary spans over one third of the eastern regions of Trashigang District. Merag, Gewogs and Sakteng are the places that make Sakteng Wildlife Sanctuary and all these places are part of protected area. The Bhutanese believe that migoi, a type of yeti, rests among the dense greenery mountains of the Sakteng Wildlife Sanctuary.

Rangjung

Founded by Dungse Garab Dorje Rinpoche in the year 1989, Rangjung Osel Choling Monastery is towards the east of Tashigang town at a distance of 17 km.

Roadway:

There are two routes from Thimpu and the journey to Trashigang takes two day from either route.

Direct bus services are available on the northern route from Thimpu to Jakar and then to Trashigang via Mongar. Buses stop for the night at Jakar and in the morning proceeds to Tashigang.

Another route is the southern route. On this route traveler has to board a bus at Thimpu to Phuentsholing and later hire a taxi to Samdurg Jongkhar since there are other means of transportation on this route. At Samdurg Jongkhar, travelers can avail direct bus services to Trashigang.

 

Airway:

Yongphulla Airport at Trashigang district is a domestic airport and one among the four airports in Bhutan. Yongphulla Airport operates flights to and fro places like Paro and Jakar. The frequency of flights from Yongphulla Airport in or out is quite less hence it would be wise to go through the airlines, such as Tashi Air and Drukair, schedule for recent updates.

Memorial Chorten

Constructed in the year 1974, this memorial is dedicated to the 3rd King of Bhutan, Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. He is looked upon as the Father of the present Bhutan.

Simtokha Dzong

This fort was constructed during the reign of Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in the year 1627. It is now an education center where culture and language teachings are imparted.

National Library

This library has a huge collection of books relating to the history of the country, Bhutan. Apart from these there are plenty of ancient scripts. There are books relating to modern studies.

Trashichhoedzong

This fort was constructed in the year 1641. It was renovated in the year 1965, under the reign of King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. This fort houses the throne of the Royal King of Bhutan. This fort is also termed as “Fortress of the glorious religion”.

Means of Commutation to Thimphu

Roadways

There are regular bus services to and from the city bus station to various districts in Bhutan. The journey from Phuentsholing, a town on the border within Bhutan territory, to Thimphu will take approximately seven hours by bus or taxis. Dhug, Meto and Semya are some of the private services operate buses from Thimphu to Phuentsholing and vice versa.

City taxis are available at Norzin Lam and inter-district bus stations. Public buses are available at the eastern end of Chang Lam stadium.

 

Airway

Currently only Paro International Airport operates flights in and out of the country, Bhutan. The airport is 45 km from Thimphu and the travel time takes about one hour. Another international airport at the southern end of Gelephu district is yet to be functional.
