Nilsia is a former town (now part of Kuopio) as well as municipality in the Northern Savonia region in Finland covering an area of 847.71 sq. km. Nilsia is a popular winter vacation destination with different outdoor activities like Hiking Mountain biking, fishing and golfing in the summer months. Nilsia coordinates with 63°12.3′ N latitude and 028°05′ E longitude, is situated about 445 km northeast of the country capital, Helsinki.


History of Nilsia:

Nilsia was initially founded in the year 1869 and it gained town status in the year 1998. It merged with Kuopio in the beginning of 2013.


Connectivity to Nilsia:

Kuopio Airport is the airport serving Nilsia located about 45 km from the heart of Nilsia and operates scheduled flights to Helsinki, served by both Finnair and Flybe Nordic, taking around 1 hour from Helsinki to Kuopio.
