The Amboseli National Park is spread over an area of 392 sq. km, lying near the border of Kenya and Tanzania, in Kajiado District in the province of Rift Valley in Kenya. It is one of the top natural tourist destinations of Kenya, housing around 400 species of birds, in which water birds and kingfishers are tourists’ favorites. Following the Maasai Mara National Reserve, it is the 2nd most visited national park of Kenya.

The park situated around 220 km south of the national capital, Nairobi, connected by scheduled buses and minivans. It gained the national park status in the year 1974 and its geographical coordinates are 02°38′29″ S latitude and 37°14′53″ E longitude. Striking views of mountain Mount Kilimanjaro and a large number of elephant populations are the other points drawing loads of visitors to the park.

 

Getting Amboseli National Park:

Amboseli Airport is the airport serving Amboseli National Park, situated in Kajiado District and receives flights from Nairobi and Mombasa, catered by Airkenya Express, Mombasa Air Safari and Safarilink. From the airport, the park can be accessed through rental vehicles.

Amboseli National Park can also be directly reached from Nairobi by using public transportation or open-topped minibus.  To move within the park, visitors can use safari van tour.

Being a famous tourist destination, Amboseli National Park houses many food corners, of which most are traditional options, so visitors are needed to be adjusted to that. Shops are also limited.
