Lying on the northwest coast of Gozo between Xagħra and Żebbuġ towns, Marsalforn coordinates with 36°4′19″ N latitude and 14°15′30″ E longitude.

 

History of Marsalforn:

The origin of name Marsalforn is uncertain, although one theory claims that the name of Marsalforn is a blend of two words, one from the Arabic language, Marsa (port) and another from the Maltese language, Forn (bakery). The history of Marsalforn has some link with the Romans as it was acquired by the Romans along with other Maltese settlement in the past.

 

How to reach Marsalforn?

Marsalforn is situated about 48 km from Valletta, the capital of Malta and 45 km from the Malta International Airport which receives flights from many important European cities like Rome, Paris, London, Dublin, Istanbul, St. Petersburg, Budapest, Frankfurt and Geneva.

There is no road link between Malta and Gozo Island, so tourists are needed to reach the Ċirkewwa Ferry Terminal first and from there the Gozo Channel Ferry takes tourists to Gozo Island ferry terminal. There are taxis always waiting for both tourists and locals. In addition, buses are also available.
