Ahtari is a municipal town situated in the Southern Ostrobothnia region in Finland lying approximately between latitudes 62° and 33′ N, and longitudes 24° and 04′ E, around 80 km southwest of the regional capital, Seinajoki and 325 km north of the regional capital, Helsinki. Ahtari has a total area of 909.96 sq. km.

Ahtari achieved town status in 1986 and currently, it is home to many natural as well as manmade tourist attractions like lakes, parks, a golf course and a zoo. Other than tourism, industrial sector is also equally supporting the economy of Ahtari. As of the recent census, the population of Ahtari is 6,394.
