Heviz is a spa town located in the Zala County in Hungary, around 37 km southeast of Zalaegerszeg, the capital of Zala County and 190 km southwest of Budapest, the capital of Hungary. Heviz is situated around 10 km away from the northwest shore of Lake Balaton, the largest and spectacular lake in Central Europe.

Heviz is situated in the vicinity of Heviz Lake which is the 2nd largest thermal lake in the world, between 46.79234° N latitude and 17.18497° E longitude. The town of Heviz is spread over an area of 8.31 sq. km.

The surrounding cities and towns of Heviz are Zalaegerszeg, Nagykanizsa, Keszthely, Lenti, Letenye, Zalaszentgrót, Zalakaros, Pacsa and Zalalövo.

 

How to reach Heviz?

Hévíz-Balaton Airport is the airport serving Heviz along with other surrounding towns of Lake Balaton. This airport is located about 15 km away from the town centre of Heviz and operates few year round flights but frequent flights during summer season from Frankfurt, London and many other big cities in Europe. Buses are gettable at the airport.

There is no railway station in Heviz and the nearest railway station in Keszthely which can be reachable by regular bus services.

There is a local transportation system called Dotto offering comfort travel to all around the city.
