Lobatse is a town in the south-eastern part of Botswana located around 1,180 meters above sea level. It is situated near the border of South Africa with Botswana, around 70 km south-southwest of the national capital, Gaborone and 290 km northwest of the South African city, Johannesburg.

Lobatse is one of the important cities of Botswana as housing the High Court of Botswana, the Botswana Meat Commission, the Lobatse Mental Hospital and a recognized private employer, FLO-TEK Pipes and Irrigation and many other prominent government and private organizations. Lobatse is geographically positioned at 25°13′ S 25°40′ E.

History of Lobatse:

According to the archeological history, The Bakgwaketse people were the original inhabitants of Lobatse. Along with the other parts of Botswana, until the independence of Botswana in 1966, Lobatse was the part of the British’s Protectorate of Bechuanaland. Following the independence, Gaborone became the capital of Botswana, and Lobatse was deserved to house the judicial system of the country, The High Court of Botswana.

How to reach Lobatse?

Lobatse hosts an airport but flights are not scheduled, so it would be better if one reach airport in Gaborone and then take taxi or bus from there to Lobatse. The Gaborone Airport (around 85 km from Lobatse) covers the capitals of the all the prime African countries including South Africa.
