<p>Kasargod was ruled by the Mahodayapuram Perumals for a long time. The decline of Mahodayapuram Perumals in 12<sup>th</sup> century it paved the way to Kolathiries where it became the chief port township of Thulunadu.  During the 14<sup>th</sup> century it was under the control of Ikkeri Naikans. After the decline of the Vijayanagar Empire in 16th century, in the later period Vengappa Naik confirmed liberty to Ikkeri. In the year 1645 Sivappa Naik acquires over the region and converted it into a defense structure. In the year In 1763 Hyder Ali gained control of this place which was later ruled by his son Tipu Sultan. During the Sreerangapattanam treaty of 1792 this was the only section that was not included in the treaty. After Tipu’s death in 1779 the British took over Kasargod which became a part of part of Bekal taluk in Bombay presidency.</p>

<p>Thirunakkara Mahadeva Temple is the famous worship place devoted to Lord Shiva and was constructed by Raja of Thekkumkur during the period of early 16th century with attractive Kerala technique of design. There is also annual fair ‘Aaraattu’ celebrated in Thirunakkara Mahadeva Temple every year and also cultural programs of Mayilattom, Velakali and Kathakali organized at the time of festival. This festival attracts pilgrims from all over the district for its grandness.</p>

<p>Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary also called as Vembanad Bird Sanctuary stretched in an area of 14 acres lies on the banks of the Vembanad Lake. It is home to more than 50 species of traveling birds and 91 species of local birds. Water hen, woodpecker, crane, teal, Siberian stork, darter, heron and egret can seen in Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary.</p>
<p><strong>Thazhathangady Juma Masjid</strong><strong>:</strong></p>
<p>Thazhathangady Juma Masjid also called as Taj Juma Masjid lies on the banks of River Meenachil and was established in the year 1964. It is famous for its wood figurines and striking structural design. Thazhathangady Juma Masjid magnetizes Muslim pilgrims from all over the Kerala State.</p>

<p>Konni is a small township in Kerala, India. It is very significant for its rubber cultivated areas and elephant cages. Konni houses one of the elephant training centers. Kerala’s legendary Achankovil River has instigated from one of the small rivulet in Konni.</p>

<p>The history dates back to early 19<sup>th</sup> century. The Konni Anakoodu was recognized in the year 1941 AD. During the erstwhile years there was habitual hound of elephants. It is believed that  wild elephants were  trapped from the woodlands were transported here and placed in wooden cages known as &#8216;Aanakoodu&#8217; (Elephant Cage) to be disciplined and taught for labor. After the year 1972 the elephant hunting was closed. The Anakoodu is made from &#8220;Kambakam Wood&#8221;. Each elephant has been provided with 2 mahouts. The elephants are instructed in the Anakoodu.</p>

<p>The Elephant Training Centre at Konni is just about 11 km from Pathanamthitta. The centre has plentiful wooden confinements that have been assembled for maintaining the elephants. These impounds that are branded as ‘Aanakoodu’ in the native lingo are well built and can hold up to 4 elephants at time. Infant elephants that are estranged from the group or blocked in the woodlands are also transported to the training centre where they are disciplined and taught.</p>

<p>Achankovil River is a small rivulet in Konni. On the course to the rivulet one can find many primordial shrines that lay on the luxuriant bank. Initially the people who came here settled here and cultivated crops on this luxurious fertile river bank. Edappon is popular for its lush flora and fauna.</p>
