History

It was constructed on the ground floor of the western Naubat Khan that was known as the Jal Mahal. Very much inside the Taj Mahal complex, it is a double storied building that has a courtyard projection outside and is constructed on a raised platform.

First gallery display

In this place you can find the plans and color drawings that are beautifully architecture. You get to see the site plan that shows the elevation of the tombs and records. There are some replicas of Shah Jahan’s Farman’s dated AD 1632 addressed to Raja Jai Singh that proves the regular supply of makrana marble.

Second gallery display

In this gallery you get to see the jade and porcelain objects like Quran. There is a wonderful bejeweled spouted vase that is also called as lota. There is a mirror affixed on the stone. The kitchen items are all made of Celadon ware. There are swords, daggers and other war items. There is a world map too that depicts the places from where the precious and semi precious stones were bought for the construction of the Taj Mahal.

Third gallery display 

In the third gallery you get to see the royal Farman’s and documents, some popular calligraphy specimens (Waslis), the two paintings of Taj Mahal done by Daniel the British artist in the year 1795.

You can find around 125 antiquities in the galleries. There is a huge collection of the paintings of the Taj Mahal Museum that just attractive to the eyes and never let you go. The various antiquities found in this place are the calligraphy specimens and manuscripts, Government decrees, Arms, ammunitions, utensils, Taj Complex drawings, Inlay work specimens, marble pillars, the coin replicas, the paintings of Shah Jahan and his wife Mumtaz Mahal both on ivory are enclosed in the bejeweled wooden frame that is situated at the heart of the main hall. The paintings inspired by the most popular Persian epic Shahnama of Firdausi. The ancient manuscript of Chaihl Majlis that was in 1612 holding the signature of the great Shah Jahan that dates back to 1628 AD.

You visit to the Taj Mahal Museum can be done between 10.00 am to 5.00 pm as this is the working hours of the Taj Mahal museum. And it will be unfortunate if you visit on Friday, as the doors will be shut on this day.

Taj Mahal is the most beautiful structure in the whole world. Buland Darwaza is the monument that is placed in Fatehpur Sikri close to Agra. It is a big monument that is completely art using the Mughal style of architecture. The name means it is a huge gate and it is the known highest gate in the world. It is also named as the “Gate of Magnificence”. It has attracted a huge number of people and has inspired many of them by its style of architecture.

History of Buland Darwaza

Akbar constructed this structure in 1575 to honor the defeat of the Khandesh and Ahmednagar in Gujarat in 1573. It has made its identity in this place. You can also find the inscription of Akbar’s conquest of Deccan in the year 1601 on the eastern archway of the gateway.

Architectural facts

It is made of red sandstone and is well designed using the black and white marble. It is proof of the early Mughal architecture. It is at a height of greater than the Jama Masjid and it seems to be the entrance gateway to the mosque. It is shaped in a semi octagonal method and it stands with the help of pillars and chhatris. You can see the 13 small domed cabins that have their roofs decorated in an artistic way. You can also find the stylized wall and small towers. The most attractive feature is the inscriptions made on the wall and the pillars. You can find a number of cantos of the Quran inscribed on the monument. Features of the gateway

It is a structure whose height is about 176 feet and is 35 meters wide. There are 45 steps that have to be climbed to reach the gateway that steeps down the hill and it gives the gateway an additional height. It is a 15-storied high gateway that protects the Northeastern entrance of the city.

Agra was the home of the Mughals, still has all the works and antique pieces of the Mughals. Akbar’s tomb is the place that ha the burial of the greatest Mughal emperor and is situated in Sikandar. Akbar started this structure and was completed by his son Jahangir. Akbar could not complete this tomb due to his death.

Jahangir put his own ideas and ultimately changed the whole plan. He constructed this tomb in the Mughal style of architecture. It is a 3-storied building made of red sandstone. The minarets are purely made of marble that is situated on the four corners of the building. In the gardens of the tomb you can find the black-faced monkeys that are known as ‘langus’.

The second floor has an arcaded portico that has 23 bays. The most attractive feature is the blend of the square pillars and the bejeweled arches. The other 2 floors are made smaller and they have different types of arches in them. The last floor is entirely made of white marble and the others are made of red sandstone.

The architecture includes the Christian, Buddhist, Islamic, Jain and Hindu style. This tomb is built almost similar to the principals of the king and is the ideal blend of various cultures. The most attractive thing is that it reflects the art and architecture of the Mughals.

There is another place that is the Baradi palace that was built by Sikandar Lodhi. It seems to look like a condensed pyramid having 5 storey’s. The porch is erected at the center of the southern side that is enlightened by the inlay work, artistic paintings and exquisite paintings.

It is situated 5 kms away from Agra. It is well linked with the major cities like Delhi, Khajuraho and Varanasi.
