The Portuguese explorer Vasco Da Gama halted in this place in 1498 just before reaching Calicut. He name one of the islands as “ EI Padron de Santa Maria.” The islands in the north are around 252 yards widthwise and are about 1 sq mile in area. The most attractive part of this place is that you can find the coconut trees and this shows the real beauty of this beach. The most exciting thing about this place is that you can sit on the rocks and take a pleasure of the scenery.

December to March is the best time for you to visit this place and this is the time when the climate is cool and serine. This place is situated 7 kms away from Udupi that has the closest railway station. If you are traveling by air you can go to Mangalore first and them to Udupi.

One among the beautiful beaches of Karnataka located in the mouth of river Malpe commonly known as Udyavara River and just 6 kilometers far from Udupi. Located at a distance of 66 kms from Mangalore and about 6 kms from Udupi, the Malpe Beach is an undefiled virgin beach. The beach has a never-ending coastline, which is surrounded by three rocky islands on the western side. Earlier, Malpe was a port on the coast of Karnataka which is now an ideal destination for a holiday away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Harbor of Malpe is a big fishing centre surrounded with the palm trees. Once you reach the harbor, the view of the blue waters surrounded by the swaying palm trees give a spectacular outlook of nature. The Maple Beach in Karnataka is an incessant stretch of golden sand, glittering Arabian Sea and swaying palm trees that offer a perfect setting for a holiday.
