Vagator beach is 24 kms away from the capital called the Panaji. It is likely to be the most famous beach. If you are searching for a silent, calm place with your family and friends then this beach is the best option. You can watch the complete Arabian Sea from this place. As soon as you arrive a sip of the Bebinca the local coconut drink will let you unmoved from this place.

Thick palm groves all around, dramatic red cliffs, rocky outcrops on the beach, a 17thcentury Portuguese fort, and two fresh water springs nearby, make Vagator a truly spectacular beach. The setting is one of the prettiest in North Goa. It is a rocky and sandy beach, just like the entrance to the sea. The sandy strip is wider, broader and longer in the north. The sea bottom is deep, and the water is sometimes very rough. So you should be careful while swimming. There are however some naturally appearing placid bays in the southern part of the beach.

Other than the peaceful atmosphere, the beautiful scenery and things like snorkeling and fishing it has no other specific attractions. But you can find small beach stalls that provide you with local Goan dishes. The scenic view of the golden beach surrounded by the palm trees, fresh water springs lets you to play, and above all these numerous cottages found everywhere gives a spectacular view and makes accommodation also easy. Many famous beaches like the Calangute, Colva and the Baga surround the Vagator beach and you can easily enjoy the fun of all these beaches. You can visit the Chopra fort that is adjacent to this beach that is almost 500 years old. You can capture the view of emerald green waters if you move to the Lava rocks and cliffs that are located towards the southern side of the Ozran beach. Local handicrafts and the souvenirs can be purchased in the nearby markets.

People of Chopra village are happy with the rural dwelling and enjoy their life with what they have and this is what we require for the betterment of the country. Their occupation is fishing and you will find fresh catches at this place. Men with their wages are welcomed in a special way by their wife’s and children and this makes a happy family. The cottages of this place are still influenced by the Portuguese. The viceroy of Goa constructed the Chopra fort in 1717 and when you climb up the Chopra fort you get to see a spectacular view of the blue sea surrounded by the green mountains. This fort still holds the historical marks that were made during the Marathas invasion.

Coming up to the accommodation it is really a difficult task so you need to plan out well in advance to enjoy your vacation. For a better and luxury stay over you need to move to the Baga or Colva beach. You can find some cottages and guesthouses near by but most of them are unavailable. Except for this, Vagator beach is surely going to light you up with the best hang out.

This Beach is situated in the southern region of Bogmalo and is just 18 kms away from the Dabolim airport and rest of the distance is covered by the local transport. The beach is silent and a book with coconut water will be enough to spend your day. Lay down at the beach right from the dawn watching the sunrise till the sun’s paint to the sea of vibrant orange colour before setting down the horizon that is really a spectacular view specially found here. People say that Lord Rama was kidnapped and brought to Majorda. Later he had come to Cabo-De-Rama that lies at the end of the Majorda Beach to save his beloved Sita.

As every beach has got its own specialty even this beach holds the same and is famous for breads. People turn up to this beach for this, though they find more popular beaches next to it like the Calangute or the Colva. People of Majorda prepare the world’s finest homemade breads. The Jesuits had settled at this place and discovered the coconut milk called the toddy and when this is kneaded with the flour it gives a unique softness and flavor that makes it the best. Later on the natives got to know the ingredients and the unique process of preparing this tradition of bread making continued through generations. The locals and the tourists visit this place mainly to taste the bread and take back the best foodstuff to their place. This has given a tuff competition to rest of the brands. You can try out steaks along with the bread and this will get you a sumptuous lunch that will not be forgotten. The hotels and the restaurants nearby the beach will offer you with a comfortable accommodation at cheaper rates.

During winter you need to check out the Goa Christmas Carnival and you will never want to miss it. This is mainly programmed close to the beach and after hours of merriment found at this place the spectacular view of the sea gets you more excited. Swimming here is safe but for better results and in order to get rid of the undercurrents of the sea you need to carry the safety guards. This will remove all your tiredness; the buzz of the town life and you will come out fresh and re-energized like never before. This beach is an ideal destination for you and your family to experience the magic of nature.

Colva Beach is in South Goa and is considered as one of the longest beaches of the world. It extends about 25 kms. You can find the crowd along with the locals only at weekends. Its tranquil beauty leads everyone to this beach. You can enjoy the sunbathing and the shades of the palm coconut trees in the noon. Five kms bus ride from Vasco da Gama will take you to this beach. One of the advantages is that Colva is less crowded when compared to the neighboring beaches.

Colva Beach is located in south Goa and can be accessed by taking a bus to Margao and from there, either a taxi or rickshaw to the beach itself. The cost of a single trip will vary between 100-250 rupees depending on your bartering skills.

The beach at Colva is the biggest in Goa; stretching 25km, all the way from Bogmalo to Cabo de Rama. In fact, it is one of the largest beaches in the world, and therefore is often viewed as a place to get away from the crowds which descend on other beaches in Goa such as Anjuna Beach. Besides its size, there is little to distinguish Colva beach from the other beaches in Goa. It offers visitors a wealth of natural beauty, fine white sand and palm trees and provides that feeling of paradise which continues to draw tourists to Goa year upon year.

Accommodation here is very easy to find, as there are many guest houses and cottages that are rented at cheaper rates. Little more further to this beach will lead you to series of 5-star hotels. As this place is a bit crowded during the festivals say in December and January for better results you need to book the rooms well in advance. This place is comparatively small than the other beaches but fortunately there is everything here that you can experience the Goan life style. You can enjoy the Goan dishes especially the fishes made by the women. At present more and more hotels are coming up as you can find huge number of tourists turning up to this place in order to enjoy the Goan fragrance.

In order to enjoy this lazy atmosphere all you have to do is to carry a book and lay in the sides of the seashore along with this a straw hat would keep you stylish. Sunbathing is something that you can enjoy the most. Although you cant find any restaurants in the beach side there are small stalls opened by the natives that provide you with delicious Goan cuisine. Swimming and fishing is safe here but need to look out for the huge tides that occur during the dusk. There is Benaulim Beach nearby so you can move there for a day if you feel that Colva is crowded. You can enjoy the beauty of this beach also as it is an extension of Colva but the calm and beauty is much ahead which is a cherry on the ice cream. One of the advantages is that Colva is less crowded when compared to the neighboring beaches. A romantic walk with your partner at night will bring you back to this place again.

Beaches in Goa do not differ from each other but still there is something unique you can find in all the beaches. In Colva it is about the people though Goans are good-natured fun loving but here you can find their hospitality that India is famous for. Henceforth in priorities Colva beach stands next to the Calangute beach.

As the Candolim Beach is located in Northern part of Goa, it is obvious to get a move on. However, this is not the jostle of an overloaded city, but is of colourful life of the high-spirited Goans. The tourists and locals tremendously accept the Candolim seashore. The nature’s beauty of the place along with its modern feel makes it a famous choice for the vacationers and honeymooners. The beach stretches from Fort Aguada to Baga for 30 kilometers, making it one of the longest beaches in the state. A bulk carrier ship, The River Princess, was stuck here since 2000. It was finally cleared in 2015, and was a popular tourist attraction. FabIndia is a good place to shop for clothing and souvenirs. You will find clothing, jewelry, home furnishings and beautiful high end gifts. The area is quite small – you can easily get around on foot.

Attractions:

The natural beauty of this place is still clean by the fact that the beach does not contain the gaudy resorts and hotels nearby. Most of them are to be found up the beach, close to the towns. With this, people can enjoy the nature and need not have to worry about the daily essentials. The beach itself is calm and the tourists keep the same, all prefer to enjoy the tranquility of the calm waters in great consideration. The beach later joins with the Calangute, which is a well-known beach. The foremost attraction is Fort Agunda, which was built in the 16th century, at the time of the Portuguese settlements being established. In fact the Calangute and the Candolim beaches flank it on both sides, and tourists move to this famous fort visiting any of the beaches. And view of the sea from top of this famous fort is merely breadth taking. Or head straight for the Quincy, popular for its rendition for local Goan music, but which will transport you to the Caribbean’s.

Calangute Beach: The “Queen of Beaches”

The beauty found in this beach is spectacular and hence the name ‘Queen of Beaches’. And among the beaches of the Arabian Sea, Calangute Beach is mainly the largest, the busiest and one of the most fabulous beaches. Usually people connect this beach to Kalyangutti or Konvallo-ghott as it holds lots of palm trees. It’s the most admired among all the neighboring beaches, it is definitely overloaded many a times, but then you will be happy with the elements that will not be found in any part of India, and it is certain to make your holiday an excellent one.

Attractions:

In the late 60s hippies discovered Calangute beach and at present they are the common visitors. The initial element that you see about this beach is its variety. It is just about 45 minutes by bus away from the capital of the state Panaji, and Calangute is certainly in its rising stages and it is growing very fast. You will find that you can benefit almost all the services that you expect in an urban community, and these include the luxury hotels and resorts, shopping complex, discos and nightclubs and numerous restaurants. On the other hand, if you take a walk towards the south-end of the beach, you will slowly avail, the Portuguese styled cottages and sight of the shades of the palm trees that bend down to touch the ocean. You can also see the fisherman getting their fresh catch from the sea as they move in the man made boats below the mounting sand dunes. And the crystal blue waters keep lapping towards the white shores, and this picture will leave you fascinated. You can checkout for the Kerkar Art Gallery or the Church of St. Alex or enjoy parasailing and water skiing. The enjoyment in this beach is endless.

Accommodation:

Unlike the other beaches in Goa, searching a comfortable accommodation would be a tricky task, particularly because Calangute is a well-liked spot and for just because of this reason, the rates are highly expensive than other areas. You can opt for both the rent cottages and guesthouses and a few steps ahead of the beach you can find the hotels getting constructed with all the modern amenities.

Nightlife and Eating joints:

If you are so intended for the parties, then this beach will let you down. It does not show off the ongoing nightclubs and there is only one adjacent to the beach called the Tito, which is in Baga. Yet, it is the lack of parties that makes this beach so pleasing. The restaurants and pubs over here are silent, with the local musicians performing every night. You can spend hours together just glancing at the sea with tendor coconut in hand. The hippies discovered Calangute in the early years of 1960’s; so you may come across the hippie hangouts. Coming to the food, you can enjoy the hot spicy and the genuine Goan fare or the delicious seafood in any of the countless shacks found along the beach. There is a fish, rice, curry and Feni that form the Calangute food. The Islamic and Hindu regions mainly influence the food specials of Calangute. And if you need an intercontinental cuisine, then get into the forthcoming restaurants heading towards the center of the beach.

Bogmalo Beach is a fresh package, as it dose not come under the list of popular beaches. It is surrounded by palm trees and is basically not so crowded. It is mainly known for fishing and is near to the northern headlines of the Colva Bay. This beach is vast and has ceaseless area of the golden sand. You can view the tiny boats moving out for their everyday catches before they vanish away from the scene ahead of the inward surfs. You can take a cab or a bus which 8 kms away from the Vasco-da-Gama. As this beach is quite admired by the locals, it will be busy during the weekends, but here there is nothing additional to the sound of waves and the scream of the sea gulls to break off one’s stay.

Accommodation:

Considering the other beaches of Goa, finding a stay over is not a difficult task in Bogmalo. There are few comfort hotels and cottages where they offer you with an international food, foreign spas and massages including all the current day facilities. There is the Coconut Creek Beach Resort and the Bogmalo Beach Resort. In addition to the above there are few guest houses that are owned by families of Goa, and staying here offers you with the homely ease and helps you to experience the Goan society and tradition that are colourful yet is a genuine lifestyle.

A holiday package to Bogmallo Beach is simply a chilled out and pleasant setting for romantic & family holidays. There are excellent hotels and resorts that offer luxury stay with advanced facilities. Being dominated by five star hotels located just right on its border, it’s a favorite spot for the one who need tranquillity, peace, and a lot of rejuvenation.

Benaulim Beach, Goa, India

This Beach is one of the premium beaches of Goa. It is 40 kms away from the capital, called the Panaji. Benaulim beach is admired for fishing, and therefore it gets overloaded at the weekends, more than the tourists in this place the fishermen turn up for their catch. In addition to the above tourists from the adjacent Colva beach too join the crowd of this place. This beach is in high spirits and if you need a complete fun-filled holiday, then move to the Benaulim beach.

This beach is mainly considered as one of the comforting areas of North Goa. And the difficulties that the tourists face in this beach is mainly the accommodation, and this at present is hardly a difficulty as Benaulim is soon turning to be a major tourist destination, and is serving as home to a number of hotels and resorts. Hotel Failaka, Carina Beach Resort, the Taj Exotica are some among them. You are offered with everything from the genuine Goan food to the continental charged food in these luxury hotels. They will also offer you with the transport facility if you require them. You can also enjoy the exotic spa treatments and good body massages. And the cost of this is really inexpensive. Even those who are on fewer budgets without any difficulty can afford them. You have the chance to choose from the holiday packages that they provide, and you will be assured with everything you wish.

There is something else special in Benaulim- something that you might not find anywhere else in Goa. It is nothing but the Bullfighting. This is an ancient sport in this region and weekly events are being organized for better fun. They are usually held far away from the paddy fields, which is unfenced and therefore considered to be highly dangerous. It is found in the months of October to March usually starts at 16th hour of the day and the tourists are thrilled with this sport. The other sports that you can look into are water surfing and seafaring. Margao market is the closest and adjoining it are many small hotels that serve you the local Goan recipes of fish and prawns made from the freshest. The accepted hotels among these is the Hawaii Shack, which gives you the best seafood and the Palm Grove’s Congenial Garden Restaurant, for its yummy Goan tableware.

One cannot neglect the Beach Bonanza Fair of Benaulim that is held on all Sunday, from the month of April. It is nearly like a weekly festival, including with the songs and dances and the food. A walk down the beach under the dark sky, along with the sea wind blowing at the end of the day will remove all your day’s tiredness. The attractiveness of this place uniting the youthful happiness makes this Beach a perfect target for a happy holiday.
